In A.A., the suggested role of a sponsor is quite simple actually, though many fear or don't understand it.
It is suggested that the sponsor take the newcomer to a variety of meetings; introduce him or her to other people in A.A.; insure that he or she have phone numbers of several A.A. members, share their experience, strength and hope; take them through the 12 steps; and share the experience of sponsorship and a home group.
So simple. I love it! I have learned so much from my sponsor and sponsees. I know it works.
